SUZUKI LESSONSFor beginners and very young students who are accepted into my studio, I teach using the Suzuki Method. The Suzuki method is a joyful, fun, and proven way for children to learn to play violin. The method also focuses on developing skills such as concentration, listening, and analytic ability.
This style of teaching was developed in Japan by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki (1898-1998). In the Suzuki Method, children learn to play a musical instrument in the same way they learn to speak their native language: through repeated listening and imitation of sound. Parents attend each lesson with the child and help the child with daily practice at home. The Suzuki curriculum is standardized, so students will be well prepared to participate in the many summer institutes and workshops that are offered by the Suzuki Association throughout Colorado and the United States. I have studied Suzuki Pedagogy with Judy Bossout-Gallic and William Starr, and I am a registered teacher with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. |
